Most boys (and some girls too) dream of being a F16 pilot when they grow up but few actually realise that dream. Here’s a boy who did.
Meet Danish Captain Thomas Kristensen, flight name MET. He is a F16 pilot and about the nicest person you would like to hang out with. He is also a devoted father of two. He has served in his Fighter Falcon in the Balkans, Afghanistan and lately in Libya. Thomas recently released a book entitled F-16 Oplevelser På Danske Vinger The book is packed with the most stunning photographs. One almost feels one is in the sky with him.
Here’s the interview:
TSP: What is the best part of your job?
TK: It’s the freedom! To be alone, with the perfect view, lots of power and then let it all lose. Then the sky becomes my playground!
TSP: Do you have a particular experience you’d like to share with us?
TK: I would like to write a book so you could get it all!
TSP: If you could go back in time to when you were 20 years old and give yourself some advice – what would it be?
TK: Enjoy it even more… I’ve never felt that I should have done something different, and every time I’ve made a major decision in my life, I’ve never looked back but focused my energy on my new reality.
TSP: What do you feel is the greatest lack in the world?
TK: Respect, understanding and love! Respect, understanding and love for people around us, human variety, nature in general! If you can face the world with that approach I think the world would be a better place to be in. I use the same values in my life!
TSP: What is your definition of a spiritual person?
TK: It’s a person who is open minded and and without prejudices.
TSP: Do you have a life philosophy that you follow?
TK: ENJOY! and that goes in every respect!
TSP: What in your opinion, is the most important thing that parents can give their children to prepare them for life?
TK: To be a parent is in my opinion the most demanding “job” in the world. I try to be my self and act towards them as I would like them to act toward others. Having said that I’m very conscious about giving them limits. I think the least I can do when I’m together with children is to be mentally present. In general i think that you can’t give your children too much love, and I really want to give them a belief in themselves.

Gostei não só de ver as acrobacias do F16, mas sobretudo pelo exemplo dado pelo Capitão Thomas Kristensen, que escrevu o livro e não cobrou um Cêntimo para si, deu aos soldados – bonito gesto humano.

How can i get in contact with Kristensen? You see, i’ve actually had the pleasure of meeting him back in 1995, in BA5, Monte Real, but somehow lost all contact with him!
He is on Facebook, maybe you can contact him through there. Hope this helps.
Thanks, will do!
